Beck, I have always admired your honesty and vulnerability. In a digital world that can so easily become robotic and cold, you spread warmth and humanity. You remind me that my faults and struggles aren't mine alone. Maybe the key to digital thriving is holding each other up! Also thank you for the Lewis.

Love this! I’ve gotten some of my best work done while avoiding things I didn’t want to do. The tree doesn’t stand far from the apple, my love.

Thanks for sharing, Beck. Maybe it's because I also just turned 45 and had that exact same feathered bangs thing happening and can remember how cool bike shorts were for a hot minute... or maybe it's because my own daughter just turned 13 and is having similar "coolness" struggles constantly... but gosh did this story, and the kindness in it, smash straight into my heart.

I also agree with the obstacle is the way tenant, and find it profoundly hard to practice. I find it way too easy to distract myself with anything helpful to someone else and "needed", and have a James Clear quote on a post-it near my computer that reads "The most invisible form of wasted time is doing a good job on an unimportant task." (I read unimportant as being unimportant to me and my goals or projects, because most tasks are important to someone.)

Came here thanks to someone sharing a link on Anne Helen Petersen's Culture Study. Since "the obstacle is the way" is on your list of agreements I have to share this poem in case you haven't encountered it. Alison Luterman: "Because Even the Word Obstacle Is an Obstacle"
